Fifty-two riders came out to enjoy the 2017 Good Friday season opener under sunny skies, calm winds and temperatures near 12°C by race end - great conditions apart from the very high air pressure of 103.2kPa! Remarkably, there were two improvements upon previous database bests - Congratulations to Martin Skody and Alex Martins for this honour. Even more impressive was MINIME Jazmine Lavergne's first solo time trial. She had previously ridden in the 2014 and 2015 Good Friday Time Trials with her sister Stephanie Sothcott, and has improved by more than 3 minutes each time! The fastest men of the event, Rod Diaz (20:32), Joel Katz (20:42) and Craig Burge (21:41) were happy with being able to sustain high power outputs throughout the event. Joel, who had the highest cube speed ratio of the three relative to his 2016 best at 92.02% actually surpassed his maximum power output from last year. This shows the effect of the high air pressure, as does the average performance ratio of .8375 for riders' results today relative to their best last year. For the women, the average performance ratio was a little lower at .8096, but the flowers and bunnies on my bike likely accounted for all of this difference, as can be seen by looking at the average (below the results) of .8366 when I have been filtered out of the results. The fastest three women, Robyn Hardage (23:35), Layla Prieur (23:54) and Lisa Meyer (24:14) rode at 80.63-86.06% of their 2016 cube speed best.
